Description: In an image from Thebes, a procession of soldiers is depicted, together with a drummer. The image is from Thebes, in the time of Queen Hatshepsut (XVIII dynasty), from between 1505 and 1483 BCE. Hickmann describes this as the first surviving representation of trumpeter in ancient Egypt. In this, a procession of soldiers is depicted, together with a drummer. The depiction of a trumpeter and drummer together is seen elsewhere in Egyption iconography and reflects earlier practice in the Middle East.
