Trumpeters on Wall Painting

Iconography | IC063

Date of Illustration: 1182-1151 BCE

Description: Two trumpeters are shown in a scene recording the exploits of Rameses III. One of these is standing upright, blowing his instrument and what appears to be his instrument’s wooden insert is under his left arm. The dress of this player differs from that shown on ordinary soldiers and, shown on his chest, are some decorations which appear to be the insignia relating to his officer rank. The other trumpeter is bowing before the Pharaoh.
